Amar Singh
Chances are you have seen the hard-working members of the Sikh community with Turbans 4 Australia. They mobilise their distinctive trucks during the devastating floods or bush fires or during the height of the Covid pandemic. Amar founded Turbans 4 Australia in 2015, to not only lend a hand to his fellow Australians in tough times, but also promote multiculturalism and religious tolerance. As a baptised Sikh wearing a turban and beard, Amar was personally aware of the potential for discrimination. Amar decided that there was no better way to teach others about the Sikh community and faith than connecting with the community through charity work. Whether it’s in a time of crisis or helping the financially disadvantaged daily, Turbans 4 Australia volunteers can be seen at the coal face, giving those in need a nourishing meal or food supplies, along with a comforting smile. Amar will use the grant so Turbans 4 Australia can support more vulnerable people in need.
