Dr Gareth Andrews
Dr Andrews is undertaking a world-first. The critical care Doctor will attempt to achieve the longest unsupported ski crossing of Antarctica, a feat of human endurance at the very edge of what is possible. From the outer edge of Antarctica to the bottom of the Transantarctic Mountains, it is a journey that has never been accomplished before. While crossing Antarctica with his medical colleague Richard, the pair will collect 75 days of unique climate change data for the Australian Antarctic Program, providing vital information to advance our knowledge of the planet’s changing climate. Dr Andrews says he is motivated to push the boundaries of what's humanly possible from a physical and mental perspective. To leave a lasting contribution to climate science, and to inspire a generation to realise this vision.
